Like most amateurs I struggle with putting. If I look back at any good rounds of golf I have had and I will always see total putts under 30. Hopefully less. But when I am in the 33+ putt range it is tough to card a decent score unless I hit like 18 greens in regulation, and 18 greens in reg ain't happening.
So if our goal is to lower our handicap we need to focus on putting. We need to avoid those 3 putts and make some 5 to 10 footers.
This putting lesson by Derek Uyeda (Derek Uyeda Golf) on Jerome Ruffin's YouTube channel is gold.
I hadn't heard of Derek Uyeda before stumbling upon this video but, doing a little research, I found that Derek is a putting coach to Xander Schauffele, Phil Mickelson, Max Homa, Brandon Wu, just to name a few. All of which are great putters.
This video walks Jerome, in great detail, through the setup, putting stroke, and starting drills to help him avoid three putting. The setup and eye alignment section is actually mind blowing for me. I always feel I am not seeing the putt line correctly which leads to self doubt before my stroke.
Here is the video.
