I Switched From an 11ft to an 8ft Golf Simulator Enclosure — Here’s What I Learned

When I built my home golf simulator, I started with the 11-foot enclosure from Anything Sports. It was a great setup and gave me a really immersive experience right out of the gate. But after some real-world use, I eventually switched to their 8-foot enclosure—and that decision came with some trade-offs.

My Setup Journey (Quick Overview)

  • Started with the 11ft enclosure for maximum screen size and immersion

  • Later moved to the 8ft enclosure to better fit my space and improve usability

11ft Enclosure — What I Liked / Didn’t Like

Pros:

  • Bigger, more immersive screen

  • Works well with 16:9 aspect ratio (easy with most projectors)

  • Projector could sit on the floor in my setup

  • Price is very reasonable at under $1000

Cons:

  • Took up more room than expected. This was in our third bedroom. It just didn't leave room for anything else.

  • Space limitations left it too close to bedroom wall.

  • Slightly less practical in tighter spaces

  • Required more depth and width to feel comfortable

  • Issue with bounceback on back right pole support (fix in video)

8ft Enclosure — What Changed

Pros:

  • Better fit for my space

  • Cleaner, more compact setup

  • Feels more “dialed in” overall

  • Price is very reasonable at under $900

Cons:

  • Requires 4:3 aspect ratio for best image

  • Floor projector setup didn’t work anymore (had to mount it)

  • Needed a custom mounting workaround due to projector compatibility

  • Issue with bounceback on back right pole support (fix in video)

  • Velcro comes off on bottom bar, needs to be periodically checked.

Final Thoughts

Both enclosures are excellent. The 11ft gives you that “wow” factor, while the 8ft is more practical for most home setups. For me, the switch was the right move—but it depends on your space and priorities.

If you're building a simulator, either of these will get the job done—just make sure your room and projector setup match your choice.
